There are four exciting paid internship roles available in the DMU Sustainability Team through the Frontrunners scheme.

The roles are available to DMU students (see below for eligibility criteria) and will help students develop their knowledge and skills around sustainability and provide some invaluable experience which looks great on CVs.

The Frontrunner roles will help develop DMU’s approach to sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and work to engage staff, students and the wider community on these important issues. The roles will help develop engagement activities, organise fun events on sustainability and implement projects to improve the University’s sustainability performance.

 

There are four Frontrunner positions available and these are:-

Sustainability Communications Frontrunner (17055)

The Frontrunner will work with the DMU Sustainability Team to deliver campaigns, projects and events to encourage more sustainable actions amongst staff and students and to raise awareness about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This may include projects such as Green Impact, Hedgehog Friendly Campus and Responsible Futures.

Learning for Sustainability Frontrunner (17019)

The Frontrunner will contribute to DMU’s new Empowering University strategy and refreshed commitments to ensure that sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are addressed as cross-cutting themes across all DMU activity. Specifically, the role will support activities to address Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) within taught courses and co-curricular activities.

International Sustainability Frontrunner (17026)

The Frontrunner will contribute to DMU’s new Empowering University strategy and refreshed commitments to ensure that sustainability and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are addressed as cross-cutting themes across all of DMU’s international and TNE activity. Specifically, the role will support activities to address international sustainability with TNE partners.

United Nations Academic Impact Frontrunner (17089)

The Frontrunner will work with the UNAI Hub to deliver projects, events and campaigns to encourage more sustainable actions amongst staff and students and to raise awareness about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This may include projects such as COP29@DMU, UN Week at DMU, SDG Days, research showcases, web and social media promotions.

The internships will start in October 2024 and run through to March 2025. The positions are for 6 months with a commitment for 10 hours per week.

The deadline for applications is 4th March 2024.

Student Applications and eligibility

  • Students must remain a current DMU student for the duration of the internship (until March 21 2025).
  • Applicants must not have previously undertaken a Frontrunners Internship or Sandwich Year Placement opportunity.
